Looming Teacher Shortage
According to the San Diego Union-Tribune and as we all might have heretofore expected, it is becoming harder and harder to attract young people into teaching careers. With school budget cuts resulting in layoffs and the aging of the current boomer teaching population, the children today and those to come might be left to suffer understaffed and overstressed learning environments.
With this crisis approaching, some look to the new Washington leadership to overhaul the current state of things and, hopefully, offer some relief by updating, what many think to be, the current outmoded system. With U.S. Education Secretary, Arne Duncan, testifying before the House Labor and Education Committee tomorrow, May 20th, there’s no better time than now to discuss Obama’s move to renovate the current education system.
