How to Upload Your Videos on SchoolTube

School TubeSchoolTube is a video hosting site that bills itself as a secure community for sharing videos for K-12 students and teachers. SchoolTube is approved for use by a variety of educational institutions and schools across the country due to a high level of moderation, which ensures that all videos hosted on SchoolTube are appropriate for K-12 students.

One of the key features that makes SchoolTube so attractive to teachers is its easy interface. Uploading a video to SchoolTube is actually quite simple, as the following step-by-step instructions will demonstrate.

Step 1
On SchoolTube’s homepage, click on the “learn more” button beneath “For Teachers.”

Step 2
On the pop-out page that appears, click “Upload Your Video.”

Step 3
On the next page that appears, type in the name of your institution or school in the search bar. If the name of your institution or school does not appear, register the institution or school by clicking the “Register” button for the appropriate option. This will take you to a new page where you can request that an account be made for the institution or school you are affiliated with. Once an account has been made for your institution or school, you will be able to progress on to the next step.

Step 4
If you find your institution or school using the search bar, select it to move onto the next page where you will be asked to select an account type. The options are “Student,” “Educator” and “Everyone Else.” Select “Educator” to open up a series of fields you will be required to fill out in order to create your account.

Step 5
Fill out your first and last names in the appropriate field, then create a username for your SchoolTube account. Continue by filling out your email address, selecting your position from a drop down menu (“Teacher” if you are a teacher; other options include “Counselor,” “Librarian” and “Parent”). Select your date of birth by date, month and year, from another set of drop down menus. Read the terms and conditions and privacy policy by clicking on them, then, if you agree to them, check the box next to the statement “I have accepted the terms & conditions and privacy policy.” Then click the box that says “Create My Account.”

Step 6
Once your account has been created, you will return to the homepage once more. Select “Upload” from the menu at the top of the page.

Step 7
On the next page, you will provide information for the video you are uploading. Fill out the video title, video description and tags, which you should separate with commas. Then select a category from the drop down menu. Select whether the video is public to everyone or available only to people from your school. Lastly, select a moderator from the drop down menu to review the video once you’ve uploaded it.

Step 8
Click “Select File” to browse your computer for the video file, then click “upload” to upload your video for moderator approval.

That’s it! Once your video has been approved by a moderator, it will appear live on your SchoolTube channel.
